Kung Fu & The Art of Invasive Expository Preaching

Proverbs 18:6 A [self-confident] fool's lips bring contention, and his mouth invites a beating.

Hebrews 11:33-35 Who by [the help of] faith subdued kingdoms, administered justice, obtained promised blessings, closed the mouths of lions,(A) 34 Extinguished the power of raging fire, escaped the devourings of the sword, out of frailty and weakness won strength and became stalwart, even mighty and resistless in battle, routing alien hosts.(B) 35 [Some] women received again their dead by a resurrection. Others were tortured [a]to death with clubs, refusing to accept release [offered on the terms of denying their faith], so that they might be resurrected to a better life. [I Kings 17:17-24; II Kings 4:25-37.]

The art of kung fu and invasive expository preaching. I recently had a conversation with a Pastor on the issue of expository preaching. His church horde, I mean board asked that he no longer preach this way. They asked him to teach & preach more topically. What a crappy postion to be in, he can't preach with fire and passion, he's reduced to "Dr. Phil" preaching. To me the that bites. So what happens when the church no longer wants the Bible to be taught, ultimately thats what they are saying, are they not? My recommendation to this Pastor was to become a "Masta of da Kung Fu" and throw the Word at them like a throwing star. It will cut them, but it will be entertaining to watch and experience. While I am in training to be a Kung Fu Master, I am will continue to be an expositor of the Word.

Shalom,

Chaplain Jeremy
