Is there any truth outside of God's word?

Truth......

The truth contained in God's word.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (Amplified Bible) 16 Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action), 17 So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The question I am asked often is, " is there any truth outside of God's word"? The wiki. definition of truth is:

{The meaning of the word truth extends from honesty, good faith, and sincerity in general, to agreement with fact or reality in particular.[1] The term has no single definition about which the majority of professional philosophers and scholars agree. Various theories of truth continue to be debated. There are differing claims on such questions as what constitutes truth; how to define and identify truth; the roles that revealed and acquired knowledge play; and whether truth is subjective, relative, objective, or absolute. This article introduces the various perspectives and claims, both today and throughout history.}

The truth is that truth originates from God. In my experience and study, truth found outside of God's word is generally borrowed or stolen as a counterfeit product. Truth found in other religions for example, boast of being exclusive in regards to truth. Joseph Campbell who wrote, "The Hero of a Thousand Faces" points out the similarities between religious mythologies and the common threads inherent throughout religion in general. One line I frequently hear that has almost become cliche is, "that's your truth, not mine". Truth by its very nature is objective, exclusive of all other claims. When we speak of truth were also speaking of the proposition a truth claim is making. The way to test the veracity of any truth claim is to see if it does actually transform someone or something in any significant way. Truth for me, is exclusive, closed to any other possibility and is rooted in something outside of the corrupted self interest of man.

In the real world, the world that exists off-campus I have found that the trendy theories preached from the bully pulpits of college professors do not work in reality. Socialism for example, where are the classless societies that are supposed to exist? Another example is atheism. If you don't believe in God, why would you spend any amount of time denying what isn't there in the first place? We are free to believe whatever we want. However, to many people truth is like a credit card they are using and going into debt with. Someday we all have to pay our bills. I am happy to say that Christ has paid my debt in full.
Peace,

Jeremy
